PolyOne Speeds Color Development with New ColorMatrix™ Custom Formulation and Supply System

SHANGHAI – At Chinaplas 2014, PolyOne ColorMatrix, the global leader in liquid color and additives for plastics, will launch its newest liquid color system, which gives manufacturers greater control of their color development and supply chain. This advanced system enables customers to respond rapidly to shifting market demands, while also increasing their speed to market.

By combining cloud-based color creation software, unique liquid color technology, and a global network of ColorMatrix facilities, the new platform helps customers to create and order custom colorants quickly, reducing development and supply turnaround time from weeks to days – or even hours.

The new system features:

• Ultra-fast Visualization and Choice: Infinite color options via a cloud-based color library with up-to-the-minute performance, regulatory, and pricing information at the start of the color development process.
• Global Availability: Approved color formulations reside in the cloud, and can be called upon to produce colorant for supply from any number of global ColorMatrix facilities to any number of customer facilities for shortened lead times, complete color consistency, and brand integrity.
• Purchasing Flexibility: No minimum order quantity means greater inventory control and reduced waste for small production runs and rapid color changes.

Each custom colorant formulated in the new system relies on an array of globally standardized base-sets that are compatible with PET and polyolefin end-use applications. Standardized base-sets for other polymers are currently under development.
